Humbling Yourself with an "I Don't Know"

The real truth in this statement is the ultimate humility is knowing you don't know anything. We are always going to be "works-in-progress". So, it's okay for all of us to say "I don't know" even when we are thought of as the know-it-all in the family or the well-versed in scripture amongst your bible study friends. When someone asks those questions about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and anything in God's Word, we are not experts so it's okay to say "I don't know" and "I don't know that the answer is in the bible. Some questions we just cannot answer this side of Heaven. But you can share what you do know. I know that once I felt unloved, unworthy and disconnected from the source of all good things but now I know I am loved, worthy and connected to my Father, thanks to Jesus who was the mediator that brought us together. Share what you know and leave the rest in the hands of the Almighty Creator of all things.

365 Days of Spirit-Filled Fruits Challenge-Day 298

My bible study group is studying the book by John C Maxwell called The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth. Although written by a pastor, it was written to the masses so reference to scripture is unfortunately not seen in the book. This was disappointing at first but then I thought why not find the scripture to back up what he is saying. Here is a great quote from the book: “The ‘Greatest Gap’ in the world is the space between knowing and doing” In terms of our spiritual growth a battle is being waged. Though we may believe, it is our growth that Satan will do all he can to stunt because although our growth begins on the inside it will produce fruits on the outside. Satan doesn’t want to see us bearing any fruit because then we are less likely to be helping the Kingdom of God. A great analogy from a sermon on  Bible.org called What Does it Take to Grow? Says this: the bible is like a weapon for a soldier without it you’ll be captured or killed. The sword of the spirit is the Word of God. We must grab onto our sword and use it every day to keep the powers of Satan from influencing us and stumping our growth. Take hold of the power of God and fight the battle.

Ephesians 6:17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Remember the old Burger King marketing motto, “have it your way”? It seems like we always want things to be “our” way and that includes how we want God to be. We want Him to fit into our lives rather than us realizing that He IS our life. God is so much bigger than the few moments I manage to pray or the little bit of time I take to read His Word. Do you think Jesus’ prayer time when he went off alone was the only time He was actively engaging with God? I don’t think so. He lived and breathed everything God. The Kingdom of God was His passion. He knew and lived like God was Everything. It wasn’t His way it was the Only way. Knowing God, He knew that everything He was and everything he did was a reflection of the love of His Father. So, He loved just as God loves us. I am reminded of the great song by Colton Dixon called You Are. The words go like this… You are, You are the song I’m singing…You Are, You Are the air I’m breathing… You Are. There isn’t anything that God isn’t. He is all of it, everything, the whole shhhbang. Lord, you are my everything. Help me to feel you in me, through me, around me and everywhere and live and love like I know it. Amen.
