365 Days of Spirit-Filled Fruits Challenge-Day 172

I am a fan of American Idol. Although not musically inclined myself, music does speak to my me in ways that nothing else can. It is down to the last two contestants. My favorite to win is Candice Glover. I have thoroughly enjoyed her singing, growth on American Idol and her spirit. In one of her final songs of the competition she sang what I believe is a newly written song called ‘I am Beautiful’. The song is about how God see us no matter anything else. I immediately said I am buying that song. So, I am off to I-tunes to get this song that says what God tries to tell us in so many ways: I am beautiful. And so are you…
Psalm 45:11 The King is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.

365 Days of Spirit-Filled Fruits Challenge-Day 29

I have heard this song on the radio recently and just love it. It is my prayer in song of what love can be within me with the Lord’s help. The Proof of Your Love is the name of the song by for King and Country. Here is a link to the official music video on YouTube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7InTwESnwzo  Here are some words from the song I keep singing in my head: Let my life be the proof, the proof of your love. Let my love look like you and what your made of. How you lived, how you died. Love is sacrifice. So, let my life be the proof of your love. The song indicates that we are nothing without love. Bankrupt. Because love is everything, the central part of who we are and can be, it should be our number one focus everyday. My goal is to sing this song everyday and pray these words and let God’s love shine through me. Take a moment and listen to the song and really hear the words with your heart.
John 13:34 “I give you a new command. Love one another. You must love another, just as I have loved you. If you love one another, everyone will know you are my disciples.”

365 Days of Praise Challenge-Day 251

I found myself last night tossing and turning with a song stuck in my head by Tenth Avenue North called Losing. Sometime in the early morning hours, with that song still going in my head and my head starting to hurt a little, I had a total flash of insight that came from God. I was very angry yesterday when I heard the news that I would have to be moving to another desk. It's not the moving part that is annoying; it's the fact that it will be to another in the same room. It will be a complete waste of my time and just make me further behind than I already am from being on vacation. It makes no sense to me but the owner has established assigned seating. I feel so micro-managed that it just hurts. I and all of my co-workers feel pretty much the same way about the new owner. We don't like him or what he is doing. It's created havoc, stress and makes us all feel disrespected and unappreciated. My feelings about this man are not good. Let's just leave it at that. However, my flash of insight last night as I sang the song in my head with these words:

Oh Father, give me grace to forgive them
Cause I feel like the one losin'

Thank you Lord for speaking to me through this song about my own situation and about my need for grace to forgive.
Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times? “Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”

365 Days of Praise Challenge-Day 189

I was  listening to the radio as I drove to work yesterday and they had an exclusive interview with Jeremy Camp about my current favorite song of his and where he got the idea from. The song is "Overcome". He said he met and spoke to a man from New Life Church right here in Colorado Springs and found out he had written this song after the tragic shooting at the church. That church has gone through some challenging ordeals with the shooting and the scandal regarding the lead pastor but they have overcome and are still thriving. With Jesus, we too can overcome just at the song says. Listen to the song here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhmcmpX4Zn4&feature=related  It is a wonderful song of worship so listen when you can really listen to the words and worship the Lord. Like another current favorite song of mine says, "love has come, love has won." Let the love of God fill you up today and all the days to come.
Galations 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

365 Days of Praise Challenge-Day 187

Hallelujah! I know we have all been there and done that. Been in a funk where you just aren't motivated or can't focus or think. I am in a bit of a funk this morning... I have a few random thoughts about things but nothing enough to inspire me. With my Christian radio station on in the background, my mind went to the song and singing it rather than thinking about what to write. Our brains are not perfect either. Sometimes they don't want to work the way we would like. Today is a brain-malfunctioning kind of day and that's okay. On days like this and in moments I have had where I can't even speak the words to pray, God hears me anyways. He hears me in my heart or in the song that is currently stuck in my head and it's all I can think of. My stuck song is now from Aaron Shust... Savior please, keep savin' me...Praising God for his heart hearing ability and hoping to be out of the funk tomorrow morning.
Psalm 95:2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

365 Days of Praise Challenge-Day 143

As I was doing my final preparations for my first faithbooking workshop at Wilson United Methodist Church, an obstacle came up. I had it in my head that I wanted to finish the workshop by playing the song Overcome by Jeremy Camp but I went to bed frustrated with Itunes because it was giving me an error message. I went to bed praying that it would all turn out well. In the morning, I got the same error message. Oh No! What to do?! So, I decided to at the least go on the internet and find the lyrics to the song. Praise the Lord! I found the song with lyrics on YouTube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRCFRenm91k&feature=related
The Lord provided again and always will.
Psalm 34:1 I will extol the Lord at all times, his praise will always be on my lips.
